Enjoying Spring

Sunday I bathed both Liam and Emi. It was so nice to get Emi all cleaned up. She was so dirty! She was beautiful before, but she looks really great now. She was well behaved for her bath, especially since it was done with a cold hose (and a few buckets of warm water). She is also measuring in at 14hh at exactly 22 months. Yah! At this point I feel really good about the likelihood that she will finish out at (or over) 14.3hh.

On the riding front Benny and I jumped a little bit last night and went on a trail ride tonight. He has been great! He walked right up to me in the field and seemed like a happy camper to go trail riding. He's also looking fantastic; sleek and shiney.

When I got home from riding I groomed Emi and we played with her hula hoop. She doesn't love the rattling noise it makes but she did let me put it over her head and pull her around with it. She's really quite a good baby!

    1. Right? It's the best tail I've ever had on a horse.

  5. She looks so good! And she is now the same height as my midget of a Section D. Haha! She's going to mature to a really nice size.

    1. Haha. That's funny. I'm hopeful that she will be 14.3hh. That would be great with me. :)

  7. I LOVE her dapples and her tail!!! She is so gorgeous!! You totally won the lottery on your girl. Beauty and brains!

I'm a little disappointed there are no bath pictures of Liam! How did he take it? Donkeys hate getting wet. I've never bathed one hehe.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed Emi makes it to 14.3hh. Chrome only grew 3/4 of an inch from his two year old year to his final height of 15.2hh at three years. I don't know why he grew to his full height so early. I was really expecting him to make it to 16hh. Oh well, I kind of like his shorter height now. :) Is it normal for Welsh ponies to be over 14.2hh? Is she a Section D? She's going to be perfect no matter how big she gets. :D

    1. I didn't know that donkeys hate to be wet. Liam has had two bathes and he's always been pretty good. :)

    2. Maybe he's the odd one out, but yeah most donkeys hate being wet. My donkey does. If it's just drizzling outside he hides in the barn. Their coats don't repel water as well as horses so that's probably part of the reason, especially in the winter. I'm glad he does well with them. :)
