Cross Training

Emi got to have a lunging session over a fence today. I wish there was a free jumping clinic around here somewhere because I would totally take her. Since we don't have that I figured a lunging session would be better than nothing. Not only is it a nice way to be able to watch her over the fences but that way she can figure herself out with out me being on her back.  I've been gathering some jumping stuff since around March and we've been trotting some small fences. Emi doesn't mind jumping but also doesn't seem to understand the point yet either. I'm hoping it will be something she enjoys and will end up being a good way to cross train.

Today I threw some filler under a fence and after lunging her over it a few times we raised it up. She didn't bat an eye at the filler or the increase in height. I'm excited to see how her jumping develops as she figures out where to put her feet and adds some more power. I'm hoping to take her out to our local cross country course in the next couple of months.

She hit it with her hind legs and proceeded to throw a little tantrum on the other side.

  1. Get it, Emi!! She looks super cute over fences!

  2. Oh my, so cute! She looks like might be a good jumper!

  3. Emi is so athletic, I doubt she'll have trouble with jumping!

  4. Oh my gosh, that girl can BUCK!
